Unlocking the Power of the Solar Eclipse New Moon in Aries: What You Need to Know
Have you been feeling this Eclipse Season? It may be a turbulent one with Mercury Retrograde occurring at the same time. (Pluto is also going retrograde on May 1st.) Eclipse season is a heightened time that bring big shifts into your life with powerful endings and new starts. (and retrogrades are a time for introspection)
This is the second Aries New Moon this year, with the Sun and Moon aligning at 29 degrees just 15 minutes before the moon enters taurus and hours before the Sun does as well.
New Moons are the first phase in the lunar cycle when the Sun and the Moon are next to each other in the same zodiac sign. This is a time for a fresh start and new beginnings. It's also generally when you want to set intentions and manifestations. However, with this being an eclipse, it's important to be mindful with your intentions. It's also a good idea to write in your intentions or do a ritual to also release of old/stagnant energy to welcome in the new.
Solar eclipses are commonly referred to as a "New Moon on steroids". They occur when the Moon is in between the Sun and the Earth, blocking the Sun's light. The Sun, Moon and Earth are in alignment in the ecliptic path, with either the North or South Node.
The North and South Nodes are the two points where the Moon's orbit intersects with the ecliptic (the apparent path of the Sun across the sky as seen from Earth). The North Node represents the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north, while the South Node represents the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from north to south.
The North Node represents what will benefit us to lean into and master in this life and we want to add more of. The South Node represents what we've possibly mastered in a path life or naturally comes easily to us and what we should incorporate less of.
Currently, the North Node is in Taurus and the South Node is in Scorpio. However, the Nodes are changing into Aries and Libra in July, the proximity makes it in eclipse.
So we have a focus on both the Taurus and Aries energy for this. Aries cardinal energy to kickstart you and Taurus' fixed energy to follow through.

So what does this all mean for you?
The intensity of this New Moon could bring some new beginnings that require some endings to move forward. You might be seeing a big shift in a certain area of your life. Letting go of behaviors, patterns, relationships, jobs, friendships that no longer align are likely to occur during this time. Pay attention to what is coming up for you right now. What do you need to release? What do you need to heal?
Because eclipses are associated with change this can bring about some uncertainty and unpredictability. You may feel a sense of instability or disruption, as this energy brings hidden or suppressed emotions to the surface. Aries is also associated with impulsiveness and can be prone to acting before thinking things through, which can lead to some impulsivity or recklessness during this time.
